Psst.. Think Islam's A Bit Outdated?

This amazing video was performed by North Point Community Church's iBand last year.. Specially for celebrating Christmas Day.

I don't want to stress out about the coolness iPad and iPhone are. I'm sure, these Steve Job's products can't no longer be denied about their quality.

What I want to point out is, the way the missionaries approaching the people. We all know, Christmas Day is a religious celebration. That's why, even to wish your friend, "Merry Christmas", you should try your best not to.

Here, the missionaries make the audience felt so close to them. They show to the people, we are the same. We have the same madness to technology. We are following the trend.

Things to ponder: how close our daie are to the people? How they utilise their surrounding world and each single nikmat Allah gave to them to deliver the message of Islam? How they use their smartphone, Mac laptop, Mercedes Benz,  wealth for Islam?

The halal is clear and the haram is clear. Between the two there are doubtful matters concerning which people do not know whether they are halal or haram. One who avoids them in order to safeguard his religion and his honor is safe, while if someone engages in a part of them he may be doing something haram, like one who grazes his animals near the hima (the grounds reserved for animals belonging to the King which are out of bounds for others' animals); it is thus quite likely that some of his animals will stray into it. Truly, every king has a hima, and the hima of Allah is what He has prohibited. (Reported by al-Bukhari' Muslim, and others; the narration is taken from al Tirmidhi.)

Yes, it's true. We are not allowed to follow the trend of people nowadays that are mostly diverted from the correct teaching of Islam. I'm sure, there are many more alternatives we can do to improve our dawah, though. Video making, technology of presenting, scientific findings, websites, social networks. All those, insyaAllah can grow the izzah (proud and pleasure) of the people towards Islam. If only you use them in a correct way.

Remember, Islam is easy-going. Don't be too jumud up to the extent, people thought, Islam is outdated.
